Job Description




  • The Company is seeking to hire a Data Centre Mechanical Technical Supervisor, whose primary focus will be on the installation and deployment of mechanical systems within the data Centre facility.

  • You will work closely with engineering and construction teams, ensuring the successful implementation of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems and other critical mechanical infrastructure.

  • The ideal candidate for this role must have hands-on experience with mechanical equipment, adherence to safety standards, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to understand the scope, specifications, and timelines for mechanical installation projects.

  • Participate in project planning sessions to provide input on mechanical requirements and feasibility.

  • Install, configure, and commission HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, CRAC Units, DOAS and associated components, according to design specifications.

  • Previous Experience in Data Centers and previously involved in testing and commissioning process including labeling and tagging during the various commissioning stages.

  • Ensure proper alignment with safety standards and local regulations during installation activities.

  • Configure and set up mechanical equipment to meet performance and efficiency requirements.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to address any technical challenges during the installation phase.

  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to ensure compliance with project requirements.

  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of all mechanical installations, including as-built drawings, equipment configurations, and test results.

  • Work with the documentation team to ensure comprehensive records are maintained for future reference.

  • Work closely with other installation technicians, engineers, and construction teams to coordinate activities and address any challenges during the mechanical installation phase.

  • Provide regular updates on project progress and participate in project review meetings.

  • Transfer technical skills to local team members.


OHS Responsibilities:



  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols and guidelines during all installation activities.

  • Identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions to maintain a secure working environment.


Requirements



  • A degree, diploma, or relevant certifications in Mechanical or a related field.

  • Proven experience in the installation of mechanical systems, particularly HVAC equipment, preferably in data center or mission-critical environments.

  • Familiarity with HVAC systems, chillers, CRAC’s, DOAS, cooling towers, and related components.

  • Strong technical aptitude and hands-on experience with mechanical equipment.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality mechanical installations.

  • Flexibility to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD.

  • Knowledge of Revit is a plus.

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical engineering and design.


Skills:



  • Be self-motivated with the desire to deliver quality work professionally without direct supervision.

  • Must demonstrate a good level of commercial awareness.

  • Possess good problem-solving skills.

  • Must possess the ability to adjust to and cope in an atypical environment/setting like Nigeria; prior international Data Centre work experience in the United Arab Emirates and a developing country will be an added advantage.
