The Role:


Flutterwave is seeking highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Risk Scoring and Decisioning to join our dynamic team. As a leading player in the fintech industry, we are dedicated to revolutionizing financial services through innovative technology and data-driven solutions. The Senior Manager will play a crucial role in developing and implementing risk scoring models and decisioning strategies to optimize our risk management processes and drive business growth. 


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Manage the development and enhancement of risk scoring models and decisioning strategies across multiple products and channels.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Science, Product Management, and Engineering to define requirements, collect data, and implement models into production systems.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.

  • Support the Head of Risk scoring & decisioning in ensuring  that risk scoring models and decision strategies comply with industry regulations and standards, working closely with legal and compliance teams

  • Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in data that may impact risk assessments and decisions.

  • Support the Head of Risk scoring & decisioning in  communicating risk insights, findings, and recommendations to executive leadership and other stakeholders, providing guidance on risk-related matters.

  • Monitor the performance of risk scoring models and decisioning strategies, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization.

  • Stay current with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to risk management and scoring methodologies.

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of risk analysts, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.

  • Communicate key findings and recommendations to senior leadership and other stakeholders through clear and concise presentations and reports.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business objectives and develop risk management solutions that balance risk mitigation with business growth objectives.

  • Support regulatory compliance efforts by ensuring that risk scoring models and decisioning strategies adhere to relevant regulations and guidelines.

  • Drive initiatives to automate and streamline risk management processes, leveraging advanced analytics and machine learning techniques where applicable.


Required competency and skillset to be a waver:



  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related discipline; advanced degree preferred.

  • 8+ years of experience in risk management, credit scoring, or related fields within the financial services industry.

  • Strong technical skills including proficiency in statistical analysis, data mining, and programming languages such as Python, or SQL.

  • Experience with machine learning techniques and tools for building predictive models (e.g., logistic regression, decision trees, random forests, gradient boosting).

  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks, methodologies, and regulatory requirements (e.g. GDPR).

  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to effectively manage and mentor a team of analysts.

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and drive results through influence and persuasion.
