The Role: 

Flutterwave is seeking a highly skilled and Senior Manager, Commercial Risk to join our dynamic Risk team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity and stability of the company's commercial operations. This individual will be responsible for developing and implementing robust risk management strategies to safeguard Flutterwave's commercial interests while fostering growth and innovation. The role requires a dynamic leader with strong analytical skills, deep industry knowledge, and a passion for driving excellence in risk management practices.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement comprehensive commercial risk management strategies aligned with Flutterwave's business objectives and regulatory requirements.


• Lead a team of risk management professionals to identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks across various business functions and geographies.


• Conduct regular risk assessments and stress tests to evaluate the effectiveness of existing risk controls and identify areas for improvement.


• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, sales, legal, and compliance, to integrate risk management considerations into business processes and decision-making.


• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging risks to proactively identify potential threats and opportunities for enhancement.


• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of risk management processes, tools, and frameworks.


• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, industry partners, and third-party service providers.


• Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management and board of directors to communicate key risk metrics, trends, and insights.

Required competency and skillset to be a waver:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., FRM, CFA) is preferred.


• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in commercial risk management, with a proven track record of leadership and achievement in a fast-paced environment.


• Deep understanding of commercial risk management principles, methodologies, and best practices, particularly in the fintech or financial services industry.


• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets, identify trends, and formulate actionable insights.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.


• Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams, drive change, and foster a culture of collaboration and innovation.


• Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with a strategic mindset and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity and ethics.
