Role Summary:


As a Medical Laboratory Scientist you will perform a variety of laboratory tests and analyses to assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and medical conditions.


Responsibilities:



  • Perform a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples, including blood, urine, tissue, and other bodily fluids, using manual and automated techniques.

  • Prepare and analyze samples, cultures, and specimens, and interpret test results to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information to healthcare providers.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and supplies, and ensure compliance with quality control and quality assurance standards.

  • Document and record test results, observations, and findings accurately and maintain laboratory records and documentation according to regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, proficiency testing, and continuing education activities to enhance laboratory performance and maintain competency.

  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses, and pathologists, to coordinate patient care and ensure appropriate testing and interpretation of results.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field from a recognized institution.

  • Valid license or certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist in Nigeria.

  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures, techniques, and equipment.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment and prioritize tasks.
