Role Summary:


As a Phlebotomist you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients for laboratory testing and analysis, ensuring accuracy, patient comfort, and safety.


Responsibilities:



  • Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients using appropriate techniques and equipment.

  • Verify patient identities, labels, and requisitions to ensure accuracy and proper specimen identification and handling.

  • Label and process blood specimens for laboratory testing and analysis, following established protocols and procedures.

  • Maintain cleanliness and sterility of phlebotomy equipment, work areas, and specimen collection supplies to prevent contamination and ensure patient safety.

  • Communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures, alleviate anxiety, and ensure their comfort and cooperation during blood collection.

  • Document phlebotomy procedures, patient information, and specimen handling accurately and timely in medical records and laboratory documentation systems.


Requirements:



  • Diploma or certificate in Phlebotomy or a related field from a recognized institution.

  • Previous experience working as a phlebotomist or in a healthcare support role preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of phlebotomy techniques, procedures, and safety practices.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment and prioritize tasks.
