- To teach & prepare Senior Secondary School Students for UTME, WAEC & NECO Physics & Furthermaths exams.
Responsibilities
Planning and Preparation for Learning:
- Lesson/engagement/material/differentiation: ensure lesson plans are planned before the beginning of a term showing differentiation in the class.
- Ensure lessons are planned to show how learners would be engaged using appropriate materials.
- Materials for lesson delivery MUST be available before the lesson commences.
- Knowledge: ensure you give feedback monthly from research on child development and how students learn
Standards:
- Lesson plan: ensure all lesson plans follow the ‘’VAK’’ format
- All lesson plans must have a bible passage (biblical integration) as a starter that correlates with the lesson and reference must be made to the passage (moral or story) at intervals.
- Before the start of any lesson, the objectives of the lesson must be clearly stated/ displayed on the board and instructional materials/ learning aids readily available/ displayed in class.
- NB: No lesson should be taught without the use of instructional materials/ learning aids.
Classroom Management:
- Responsibilities/Expectations: Educators should get learners to be self-disciplined and both learners (where applicable) and educators will take responsibility for their actions.
- Working with the class educators, class rules should be clearly stated/ displayed in class and learners encouraged and guided to follow them adequately.
- Set goals for each learner with the class educator and have a learning journal. Track learners' progress with educators’ commonplace books. (N/B: educators would be required to discuss learners’ progress with evidence and facts using the commonplace book and learning journals first with their supervisors before parents’ conferences)
Family / community outreach:
- An educator is expected to show respect to all families and community cultures.
- Shows each parent an in-depth knowledge of their child
- NB: no assistant educator is expected to speak with parents without the knowledge of the class educator.
- An educator is expected to give parents clear, user-friendly learning and behavior expectations and exemplars of proficient work.
- An educator is expected to make sure parents hear positive news about their children first and immediately flag any problems.
- An educator is expected to frequently involve parents in supporting and enriching the curriculum for their children as it unfolds.
Requirements
- Minimum academic qualification of a B.Ed in Physics, TRCN, Mechanical Engineering)
- Understanding curriculum requirements, and creating syllabi, lesson plans, and educational content that satisfy these requirements.
- Analyzing the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of students and structuring lessons and assessments around them.
- Adjusting teaching methods to suit different groups of learners.
- Creating engaging, stimulating lesson plans and asking frequent questions to make sure students are on track.
