Job purpose


This role is part of the sustainability team, contributing to Beta Glass/Frigoglass annual carbon footprint reporting exercise which involves the collection, reviewal, analysis and reporting of data from colleagues both locally and globally in the areas of Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) data collections.


Responsibilities



  • Manage energy/fuel consumption, engage in official travels, and other activities that contribute to the Company’s Greenhouse Gases (GHG) footprint.

  • Responsible for water usage, wastewater disposal, waste generation/management and sustainable procurement.

  • Devise sustainable means of reducing carbon footprint emissions.

  • Assist in documenting the narrative results of the annual footprinting exercise and other corporate sustainability reports.

  • Work collaboratively with team members and plant designated persons to achieve the company’s carbon emission reduction goals.

  • Research and contribute towards sustainability awareness by creating materials for use in educational campaigns and events that foster sustainable behaviors at work.

  • Contribute to the development of corporate tools, templates and other materials for identifying, assessing, managing and reporting sustainability impacts related to energy/greenhouse gas (GHG), waste and water, sustainable procurement and resource efficiency; pollution prevention etc.

  • Respond to queries from colleagues, clients, customers on sustainability issues and contribute to other Sustainability initiatives as required.


Qualifications & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Environmental management, Applied Engineering or any science related course.

  • Minimum 7 -10 years’ experience in related industry.  

  • Good communication skills - oral and written.

  • Document control skills.

  • Use of Microsoft offices – MS Excel, MS Words and Power Point.

  • Good report writing skills.

  • Must be good in root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
