We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Legal & Recovery Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling all legal matters and debts recovery through negotiation, payment arrangements, settlements, and legal proceedings.

The role requires a strong understanding of debt recovery processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with external stakeholders and solicitors when neccesary

Roles and Responsibilities:

Legal Representation

• Ability to write legal letters on behalf of the company


• Handle all legal matters with internal and external stakeholders


• handle corporate relations as may be delegated

Debt Collections

• Manage customers bad debt portfolios.


• Initiate contact with debtors to negotiate payment arrangements and settlements.


• Pursue all available avenues to recover outstanding debts in a timely manner.

Legal Proceedings Management:

• Assess accounts for potential legal action and determine the appropriate course of action.


• Monitor and manage legal cases from initiation to resolution, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies.

Reporting

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all debt recovery activities and legal proceedings.


• Prepare reports and documentation as required, including weekly/monthly recovery reports

Customer Service:

• Handle inquiries and disputes from Customers/debtors in a professional and courteous manner.


• Provide assistance and support to debtors in understanding their obligations and resolving outstanding debts.

Compliance:

• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices related to debt collection and legal proceedings.


• Stay informed about changes in legislation and industry standards that may impact debt recovery processes.

Experience and Skills Required:

• Must be a Lawyer with Bar experience (BL LLB) 


• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in collections, bad debt recovery or a related field.


• Proven track record of successfully resolving delinquent accounts through legal means.


• Strong understanding of debt collection laws and regulations.


• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.


• Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex cases simultaneously.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• Detail-oriented and organized, with excellent time management skills.
