Job Description

• As a Pet Handler at our Pet Kennel, you will be responsible for the care, supervision, and exercise of our dogs, ensuring their well-being and happiness.

Responsibilities

Pet Care and Supervision:

• Provide daily care for dogs at the kennel, including feeding, grooming, and administering medications as directed by the veterinarian.


• Monitor the health and behavior of dogs under your care, promptly reporting any concerns or changes to management.


• Ensure all dogs have access to clean water, comfortable bedding, and appropriate enrichment activities.

Dog Walking and Exercise:

• Walk dogs individually or in small groups according to their needs and temperament, providing them with regular opportunities for exercise and mental stimulation.


• Follow designated walking routes and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of the dogs and yourself.


• Provide basic training and reinforcement of commands during walks as needed.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kennel facility, including dog kennels, outdoor exercise areas, and common areas.


• Regularly clean and sanitize kennels, food and water bowls, toys, and other equipment used by the dogs.


• Dispose of waste and soiled bedding properly, following established protocols for waste management and sanitation.

Assisting with Special Needs Dogs:

• Provide specialized care and attention to dogs with medical conditions, disabilities, or behavioral issues, following specific care plans provided.


• Administer medications, perform basic first aid, and provide additional support as needed to ensure the comfort and safety of these dogs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with dogs in a kennel, veterinary clinic, or similar setting preferred.


• Knowledge of dog behavior, health, and basic care requirements.


• Experience in dog walking and handling dogs of varying sizes and temperaments.


• Strong communication skills.


• Ability to work independently.


• Physical ability to lift and carry moderate weights, withstand prolonged periods of standing and walking, and handle dogs safely.
