Job Description

• A Truck Mate will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods across Rivers state and beyond.


• Your primary responsibility will be to assist the truck driver in various tasks related to loading, unloading, and securing cargo, as well as maintaining the vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assist in Loading and Unloading: Help load and unload cargo onto and off the truck, ensuring it is properly secured and positioned for transportation.


• Cargo Handling: Handle cargo carefully to prevent damage during transit. Follow safety protocols and guidelines for lifting and moving heavy items.


• Securing Cargo: Assist in securing cargo using straps, chains, or other securing mechanisms to prevent shifting or damage during transportation.


• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on the truck, such as checking fluid levels, inspecting tires, and ensuring all lights and signals are operational.


• Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of the cargo being transported, including quantities and descriptions, to ensure proper delivery and accountability.


• Assist Driver: Support the truck driver in navigating routes, communicating with dispatch, and complying with all traffic laws and regulations.


• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by being courteous and professional when interacting with clients or recipients of the cargo.


• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safe oil and gas work practices.

Qualifications

• NECO / WAEC / Diploma or equivalent.


• 1+ years relevant work experience.


• Prior experience in a similar role preferred.


• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.


• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.


• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
