Job Description



Key Responsibilities



  • Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, and musculoskeletal studies.

  • Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the examination.

  • Operate ultrasound equipment and adjust settings to obtain optimal images, adhering to established protocols and safety standards.

  • Evaluate images for quality and diagnostic value, identifying and documenting any abnormalities or relevant findings.

  • Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret results, provide preliminary findings, and assist in developing treatment plans.

  • Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging studies, examination reports, and relevant clinical data.

  • Participate in quality assurance activities, including equipment maintenance, image review, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Educate patients about ultrasound procedures, answering questions and addressing any concerns they may have.

  • Stay current with advances in ultrasound technology, imaging techniques, and medical knowledge through continuing education and professional development activities.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and respect for patients' dignity and confidentiality in all interactions.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in medical imaging/Radiography from a recognized university.

  • Must register with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) and must have a current license to practice

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sonographer in a clinical setting, preferably in a diagnostic imaging center or hospital environment.

  • Proficiency in performing a wide range of ultrasound examinations across various body systems and patient populations.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers.

  • Attention to detail, critical thinking abilities, and the capacity to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, safety, and professionalism.

  • Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems and medical imaging software preferred.
