Role Description



  • This is a full-time on-site role for a Kitchen Assistant at an upscale Bistro located in Ikoyi, Lagos.

  • The Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for various day-to-day tasks including food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, cooking, handling food and beverage service, and providing excellent customer service.


Qualifications



  • Food Preparation and Cooking skills

  • Knowledge of hygiene practices and food safety regulations

  • Experience in the food and beverage industry

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask

Responsibilities


Food Preparation:



  • Assisting with basic food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients.

  • Preparing salads, dressings, sauces, and other simple dishes.

  • Portioning ingredients according to recipes.


Cooking Assistance:



  • Assisting chefs in cooking dishes by monitoring cooking times and temperatures.

  • Operating kitchen equipment such as stoves, ovens, grills, and fryers under supervision.

  • Following recipes and instructions provided by the head chef or senior kitchen staff.


Cleaning and Sanitization:



  • Cleaning kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils before, during, and after food preparation.

  • Washing dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchenware.

  • Ensuring compliance with hygiene and food safety standards at all times.


Organization and Maintenance:



  • Organizing kitchen workstations and storage areas.

  • Assisting in the maintenance of kitchen equipment by cleaning and performing basic maintenance tasks.

  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to senior staff.


Adherence to Regulations:



  • Following health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.

  • Adhering to cleanliness and sanitation standards as per the kitchen's policies and relevant regulations.
