Job Description



  • The Construction Manager shall be responsible for supervising the construction of all building and engineering projects undertaken by the Company.

  • He shall be the lead in ensuring that the projects are delivered according to technical specification and design requirements.

  • The Construction Manager shall be responsible for planning construction projects and overseeing their progress from start to finish in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  • The Construction Manager shall be responsible for organizing men (skilled and unskilled) and materials, in ensuring the planning, scheduling and implementation of the various projects.

  • The Construction Manager will be required to collaborate closely with various stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Construction Manager shall have keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills, in ensuring that all construction activities align with the established timeline and budget.


Responsibilities



  • Overseeing and directing construction projects from conception to completion

  • Ensuring that detailed working drawings and engineering specifications are available for all aspects of the works and that these are properly executed on site

  • Reviewing the project in-depth to schedule deliverables and execute according to timelines

  • Overseeing all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations

  • Oversee and direct construction projects from conception to completion

  • Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors

  • Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory

  • Meet contractual conditions of performance

  • Review the work progress on daily basis

  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status

  • Plan ahead to prevent problems and resolve any emerging ones

  • Negotiate terms of agreements, draft contracts and obtain permits and licences

  • Analyse, manage and mitigate risks

  • Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques


Requirements and Skills



  • Proven working experience in Construction Management from mid-level to senior-level management with a reputable Construction Company.

  • Detail-oriented (attention to fine details), self-motivated and disciplined professional.

  • Strong work ethic with proven capacity to build and lead teams.

  • Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means and methods.

  • Expert knowledge of building products, construction methods, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.

  • Sound and practical understanding of all facets of the construction process

  • Familiarity with construction/project management software packages, such as MS Projects, Primavera amongst others.

  • Ability to see, plan, implement, retain and transmit the “big picture” to other team members throughout the construction process.

  • Highly adaptable with the capacity to deliver results under pressure.

  • Competent in conflict and crisis management.

  • Leadership and human resources management skills.

  • Excellent time and project management skills.

  • Relevant degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or Building or related field.

  • Minimum of 15years relevant experience.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively read and write in English.
