Our client in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry, specializing in the production of high-quality snacks is currently in need of a production manager.
The Production Manager will play a critical role in overseeing our snack production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director/Owner initially, with subsequent reporting to the General Manager, this position offers an opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead a dynamic team and drive continuous improvement in our production processes.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demands and company objectives.
Lead and manage a team of production staff, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
Monitor production processes and workflows, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.
Oversee inventory management and material sourcing to minimize waste and optimize resource utilization.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including quality assurance, maintenance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless coordination and communication.
Drive initiatives to enhance product quality, consistency, and cost-effectiveness, while minimizing production downtime.
Conduct regular performance reviews and assessments of production equipment and facilities, recommending upgrades or replacements as needed.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices to streamline production processes and ensure compliance with quality standards.
Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices, incorporating relevant advancements into production strategies.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Food Science, or related field. Master's Degree preferred.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in the FMCG industry, with at least 3 years of experience specifically in the snacks space.
Proven track record of success in production management, with a focus on snacks manufacturing.
Experience with extruded snacks, baked goods, or fried snacks preferred.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strategic thinking, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
Familiarity with production planning software and ERP systems.
Nigerian candidates are preferred, but expatriates with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
