General Job Description



  • Act as an adviser to the Advisor on mainstream community activities as it relates to the health Program

  • Support the Advisor in developing policies, strategies and the overall framework for Community ART services.

  • Support the gender focal person to advocate for greater attention to gender perspectives for PLWHIV, providing the necessary rationales and advice on different approaches to support gender mainstreaming.

  • Quarterly visits to the communities to gain adequate knowledge of the potentials and constraints, and the work environment, to be able to provide better support.

  • Organize and participate in the weekly planning and development of the work schedule for the team.

  • Support the Advisor in developing indicators for assessing the progress of community activities and clients’ treatment outcomes.

  • Support the Advisor to create a technical working group (TWG) that will incorporate other relevant bodies such as private sectors, community leaders and PLWHIV that will develop short policies to support the implementation of the Community HIV program.

  • Organize quarterly TWG meetings to provide program updates.

  • Quarterly assess & review ART services at the facility level, ensuring their conformity with the National Guideline on Care & Treatment of HIV/AIDS.

  • Perform Clinical needs assessment (Clinical & programmatic) & intervene accordingly or contact the advisor for appropriate interventions where needed.

  • Collect, analyze and disseminate data that present the holistic picture of the overall program performance.

  • Represents the Advisor and interface for the organization at meetings.

  • Provide linkages to researchers and funders on request

  • Perform other duties assigned by Supervisor/Superiors


General Responsibilities



  • Conduct client needs assessment.

  • Lead the team to coordinate the state's planning, development, and implementation of the ACE program.

  • Ensure that all services provided to the patients are optimum, timely, and prompt across the prevention cascade.

  • Work with other prevention services such as Gender and GBV to provide emotional support to survivors and other HIV-positive clients.

  • Develop and maintain networks and collaborative partnerships with clients, PI, and others.

  • Facilitate the interest and rights of clients.


General Requirements



  • Education: B.Sc Degree in Social Studies, Counselling, and /or Psychology. Extensive work experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.

  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of working experience as a caseworker or intervention worker, counsellor, or community program coordinator in a health-related program with a leadership role.

  • Specialized knowledge: A certificate in community service is desirable but not required.

  • Skills: Problem-solving, Adaptability, Written and oral communication skills, proficiency in the use of a computer.

  • Abilities: Self-motivated, high motivation, Problem-solving, positive mindset, ability to multitask.

  • Interpersonal/Individual Competencies: Passion to help others, high motivation, ability to recognize and respond to crises calmly and ability to work with other team members.
