Purpose of the Assignment
- The purpose of this assignment is to support the generation of subnational health systems evidence to inform planning for malaria in Kano state to strengthen the tailoring of specific malaria interventions and optimize their implementation in the specific health systems context in Kano.
Scope of Work
- The scope of the technical assistance involves the development of the malaria operational planning capacity-building modules and training plan which will be used in training stakeholders and support them in the development of malaria operational plan based on evidence of different high value malaria intervention mixes recommended for different LGAs in Kano state.
LGA Facilitators:
- The LGA facilitators will assist the Senior national consultants (planning) in facilitating the data-driven malaria operational planning process to achieve effective and targeted malaria interventions in 12 LGAs in year 1 and 44 LGAs in year 2. 12 Facilitators are required for this assignment in year 1 to oversee 12 LGAs and 44 Facilitators are required for this assignment in year 2 to oversee 44 LGAs.
Requirements
Essential:
- MSc in Public Health, Global Health, Sociology, Anthropology, Research Methods or a related social science discipline, or another post-graduate qualification with a substantial quantitative research component
- Three years’ experience of working in public health
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on a team, particularly with Ministries of Health, SMEP, SPHCDA and/or other government sectors and partners;
- Knowledge of malaria prevention and control in endemic settings
- Demonstrable understanding of stakeholders’ engagement in relation to overcoming the barriers as well as approaches of effectively communicating with broad stakeholders such as state & LGA decision-makers and community beneficiaries.
- Ability to speak Hausa language and familiarity with and respect for the tradition and culture of the study location (state of assignment) is required.
- Familiarity with the terrain of the project location is required.
- Excellent command of English with exceptional writing and communication skills and the ability to present information in clear, concise, and compelling ways;
- Results-oriented attitude to work;
- Availability during the project timeline;
- Excellent skills in in MS Office software package
Desirable:
- Excellent experience in conducting Stakeholders’ engagement.
- Experience in working effectively with government and non-government partners.
- Experience of working on malaria programmes, familiarity with SPHCDA, Ministries of Health; SMEP.
- Experience working at LGAs and/or community level.
- Fluent in English and Hausa.
