Plan residents’ meals on a weekly & monthly basis;
Check number of residents with HR department each Monday morning;
Check with residents on special requests, and check food stock on hand/needed;
Create a meal plan for the following week, and submit to HR on Wednesday;
Taking note of the meal plans, resident preferences, and stocks on hand, prepare shopping lists and carry out shopping every two weeks on a Tuesday or Thursday; give HR advance notice of shopping plans during the Monday morning discussion
Prepare work plan to allocate half day for shopping, such that the shopping day’s meals are already prepared;
Cook meals daily for residents Mon-Fri, and prepare and store weekend meals
Schedule is Mon-Fri 8am-5:30pm;
Prepare lunch to be served no later than 1pm;
Prepare, label and store food for dinner before leaving, and pass on special instructions to HR;
Maintain food stocks in pantry and fridges, and shop for supplies;
Ensure pantry is clean and organized at end of each day;
Create and then adhere to written par stocks for each type of item, this includes labelling shelves in the pantry and keeping each item in a specific place;
Liaise with Logistics for cooking gas needs;
Maintain a hygienic and well-functioning kitchen;
Clean up, wash, dry and store dishes from each meal period;
Clean cooking pots, pans and utensils;
Ensure that the house cleaners sort out and return dishes and utensils to the correct kitchens in the guesthouse residences;
Store food items at correct temperatures, remove spoiled or outdated food items immediately, ensure raw meats are stored safely and do not drip on other food;
Oversee deep cleaning of fridges, kitchen appliances, cupboards and pantry once per month or as needed, and assist cleaners in managing this; advise HR of additional needs.
Position Requirements:
School leaving certificate or equivalent;
Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role.
Ability to interact effectively with international and national personnel
Commitment to renewing and maintaining knowledge of best practices
Ability to communicate, read, and write effectively in English;
Good understanding of Basic Hygiene;
Experience working with INGOs.
Valid means of identification and indigene certificate;
Good reading and writing skills;
Flexible and adaptable in a changing work environment;
Good communication skills and high level of integrity;
Commitment to and understanding of ACF aims, values, and principles.
