  • The Gender and Development Research Specialist will work closely with the Coordinator of the ALF Centre for Gender Equality and Research and support all gender activities of the organisation.

  • The specialist will provide technical support in developing and implementing women-specific projects and possess the requisite research skills to conduct women-specific research on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Support the Centre Coordinator in developing and implementing the organisation's gender strategy, ensuring alignment with regional and international gender equality frameworks.

  • Conduct research on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment, including data collection, analysis, and report writing.

  • Provide technical support and capacity building to staff and partners on gender mainstreaming and women's rights.

  • Provide technical support in developing and implementing gender-related projects, including designing project proposals, budgets, and monitoring and evaluation plans.

  • Collaborate with other organisations and stakeholders specialised in gender equality to share best practices and lessons learned when necessary

  • Provide support in monitoring and evaluating the impact of gender mainstreaming efforts on the organisation's programs and advocacy initiatives.


Qualifications:



  • Master’s degree in Gender Studies, Development Studies, Sociology, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in development research, with a focus on Gender Equality and Women Empowerment.

  • Strong understanding of regional and international gender equality frameworks and their implications for programming.

  • Experience in designing and implementing women-specific projects, including project management and monitoring and evaluation

  • Excellent analytical and writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely

  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of other languages spoken in Africa is an asset
