Job Summary
- The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the Microfinance Bank, including financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of microfinance banking operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
- Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.
- Prepare and present financial reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key financial metrics and performance indicators.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Monitor budget performance and analyze variances, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including those set by the Central Bank and other regulatory bodies.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings in a timely manner.
Treasury Management:
- Manage the bank’s liquidity, cash flow, and investment strategies to ensure optimal financial stability and profitability.
- Oversee treasury operations, including cash management, investments, and financial risk management.
Internal Controls and Audit:
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the bank’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure the timely resolution of audit findings.
Financial Analysis:
- Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost management, and financial performance evaluation.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive business growth and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CFA) are a plus.
- 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles within the microfinance or banking sector.
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements for microfinance institutions.
- Proficiency in financial management software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
