Job Summary



  • The Finance Officer will be responsible for managing the financial activities of the Microfinance Bank, including financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of microfinance banking operations.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting:



  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.

  • Conduct bank reconciliations and ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled.

  • Prepare and present financial reports to management and stakeholders, highlighting key financial metrics and performance indicators.


Budgeting and Forecasting:



  • Develop and manage the annual budgeting process, including the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.

  • Monitor budget performance and analyze variances, providing recommendations for corrective actions.


Regulatory Compliance:



  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including those set by the Central Bank and other regulatory bodies.

  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports and filings in a timely manner.


Treasury Management:



  • Manage the bank’s liquidity, cash flow, and investment strategies to ensure optimal financial stability and profitability.

  • Oversee treasury operations, including cash management, investments, and financial risk management.


Internal Controls and Audit:



  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the bank’s assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure the timely resolution of audit findings.


Financial Analysis:



  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, including profitability analysis, cost management, and financial performance evaluation.

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to drive business growth and operational efficiency.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field. Professional certifications (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CFA) are a plus.

  • 5 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles within the microfinance or banking sector.

  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations and compliance requirements for microfinance institutions.

  • Proficiency in financial management software and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
