- The IT System Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure.
- This role reports to the Technical Manager and ensures the reliability, security, and scalability of systems, including virtualization solutions, storage systems, and cloud IaaS platforms.
- The IT System Engineer works closely with a diverse team of engineers, administrators, and business stakeholders to meet technical requirements and deliver solutions that support business objectives.
- This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented professional with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Design and Management: Oversee the design, installation, setup, and administration of current and future infrastructure deployments, including Virtualization Solutions, Storage Systems, and Cloud IaaS Solutions.
- Collaboration and Requirement Gathering: Collaborate with team members such as infrastructure engineers, database administrators, software development engineers, and business liaisons to gather data and storage requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
- Capacity Planning and Implementation: Conduct capacity planning and implement SAN Storage infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Perform continuous performance monitoring, troubleshoot issues, and conduct proactive support analysis to maintain system reliability.
- Backup Solution Management: Manage and support the Enterprise Backup Solution and Tape Library system within a SAN environment, while developing and refining backup procedures and policies.
- Virtualization Infrastructure Support: Maintain and support VMware Virtualization and Hyper-V infrastructure, ensuring robust and reliable virtual environments.
- Data Archive Testing: Work with infrastructure owners to test and verify data archives, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Backup Scheduling: Schedule backup jobs based on documented procedures and schedules to ensure data is backed up regularly and reliably.
- Proactive Monitoring: Conduct day-to-day proactive monitoring, including reviewing error logs, database and log space, user activity, and resource utilization, to prevent issues before they arise.
- Automation and Best Practices: Create scripts to automate system administration duties and database maintenance procedures. Implement and uphold best practices, guidelines, and policies to enhance operational efficiency and security.
Qualifications & Skills
- A Minimum of B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science, Electrical / Electronics Engineering or any related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years experience in Enterprise Virtualization Solutions, VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, Storage, Backup Solutions.
- Certifications in CompTIA Server+, Red Hat Certified System Administrator, Red Hat Certified Engineer , VMware Certified Professional or Linux certifications will be an advantage.
- Strong experience with or knowledge of Python and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures.
