Role Summary



  • The Site Manager is a member of the management team working with leadership to ensure organisational goals are met and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the plant in conjunction with the Assistant Site Manager and other departments to ensure a safe, efficient and target oriented production plant.


Responsibilities

Operations:



  • Oversee daily production activities, ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and safety protocols.

  • Monitor production flow, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize efficiency and output.

  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials and finished products to minimize stockouts and overstocking.

  • Coordinate production activities with other departments like collections, sales and marketing

  • Collate and interpret data for decision making

  • Prepare and track production reports and key performance indicators (KPIs).


Team Leadership:



  • Lead, motivate, and coach a team of production personnel to achieve individual and team performance goals.

  • Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for employee development.

  • Foster a positive and safe work environment, addressing employee concerns and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Delegate tasks effectively and empower team members to take ownership of their responsibilities.

  • Schedule and manage production staff, ensuring adequate staffing levels to meet production demands.


Safety and Quality:



  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures on the production floor to prevent accidents and injuries.

  • Conduct regular safety inspections and identify potential hazards.

  • Ensure adherence to quality control standards and procedures throughout the production process.

  • Investigate and address quality control issues promptly to maintain product quality.


Problem-Solving and Continuous Improvement:



  • Identify and troubleshoot production problems, implementing solutions to minimise downtime and disruptions.

  • Analyse production data to identify areas for improvement and implement process optimization strategies.

  • Stay up-to-date on new technologies and industry best practices in production processes.


Skills



  • Relevant First Degree with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in production and at least 2 in a leadership position

  • Must have production background and should have worked in a factory before and managed a team of operators on the production floor.

  • Must demonstrate integrity and personal discipline.

  • Open to and a quick adopter of technology

  • Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory management principles.

  • Knowledge in excel spreadsheet, word, PowerPoint is compulsory

  • Good data analytical skills is required.

  • Ability to work under pressure

  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrable experience motivating team members to deliver goals

  • Good interpersonal skills and an effective team player

  • Commitment to safety and a proven track record of maintaining a safe work environment.

  • Familiarity with basic production equipment and processes (a plus).
