Job Description

How this role has a social impact

  • As the scale and complexity of our programs grows rapidly, from 4 local government areas served today, to state-wide and beyond, the positive impact upon the lives of 100s-of-thousands of children will simply not be possible without a strong Program Officer.

  • Trusted NGO and Healthcare System partners are fundamental in this program. The Program Officer provides the insights and structure to ensure that high-level program design can be implemented successfully with these partners.

Role responsibilities

  • As a small and agile organisation, the role will vary over time, but typical responsibilities will include:

  • Building and applying detailed program plans, including program preparation, implementation and M&E. Tracking progress against these plans and communicating status and risks.

  • Collaborating with partners to shape implementation plans, provide structure and clarity, and problem-solve with local context.

  • Performing M&E activities during key operational phases, observing and problem-solving during implementation, always with a view to serving communities more effectively.

  • Representing Clear Solutions in local stakeholder discussions.

  • Inputting to organisational decision-making with local and program insights.

About you

  • We care more about your motivation, potential, and what we can achieve together, than checking boxes in a list. Nonetheless, we expect that candidates are likely to have many of the following attributes.

Required capabilities, experience or qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong English communication skills, with working proficiency in Hausa (verbal required; written preferred)

  • Experience in bringing structure and clarity to situations with many considerations.

  • Experience in written and verbal communications with colleagues and external partners at various levels of seniority.

  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and thrive in a small and dynamic team.

  • Computer skills sufficient to create and work with shared spreadsheets (including formulae and advanced formatting) and quickly create documents and presentations for internal and external communication.

  • Based in Kano state.

Preferred experience or qualifications

  • Experience in working with primary healthcare provision in Nigeria.

  • Experience as a program officer or manager, or similar role, in complex programs with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Experience in working at an NGO, or volunteering in community and non-profit projects.
