- The Compliance and Accounts Receivables Accountant will be responsible for managing the accounts receivables portfolio, ensuring timely collection of payments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and a thorough understanding of Nigerian financial regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Receivables Management:
- Manage the accounts receivables portfolio, including following up on collections, and reconciliations.
- Monitor accounts to ensure timely collection of payments and follow up on overdue accounts.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce overdue receivables.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all accounts receivables transactions.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Nigerian financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Prepare and submit required financial reports and documentation to regulatory bodies including pension fund administrators, tax authorities, NSITF/ ITF and other regulators.
- Assist during audits to ensure adherence to internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and advise management on compliance issues.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare weekly and annual accounts receivables reports.
- Provide analysis and insights on accounts receivables performance to management.
Customer Relations:
- Liaise with customers to resolve any billing issues or discrepancies.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers to facilitate smooth payment processes.
- Address customer inquiries and provide support regarding account status and payment terms.
Internal Controls:
- Develop and implement internal controls related to accounts receivables and compliance.
- Identify areas for process improvement and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting / Finance, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience in accounts receivables and compliance, preferably within a similar industry.
- In-depth knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
