Job Summary

• A Pulpit Operator in a Hot Strip Mill is responsible for monitoring and controlling the various processes involved in the production of hot rolled steel.


• This position requires operating control panels, overseeing machinery, ensuring product quality, and coordinating with other departments to maintain efficient and safe operations.

Key Responsibilities

 Operation and Monitoring:

• Operate control panels and oversee the entire hot strip mill process.


• Monitor the status of equipment and systems via the control room.


• Adjust settings and parameters to ensure optimal performance and product quality.

 Process Control:

• Ensure the smooth flow of steel through the mill, from reheating to coiling.


• Monitor critical parameters such as temperature, pressure, and speed.


• Troubleshoot and resolve issues to minimize downtime.

 Quality Assurance:

• Inspect and verify the quality of hot rolled steel.


• Ensure products meet customer specifications and industry standards.


• Document and report any deviations or defects.

Safety and Compliance:

• Adhere to safety protocols and regulations.


• Conduct regular safety checks and participate in safety meetings.


• Ensure compliance with environmental and operational standards.

 Coordination and Communication:

• Work closely with maintenance, production, and quality control teams.


• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.


• Report any equipment malfunctions or production issues promptly.

 Data Recording and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of production data and operational activities.


• Prepare reports on production performance, downtime, and other key metrics.

Requirements

Experience:

• 6 - 10 years’ experience in Narrow Strip mill (for Flat product steel rolling)

Academic qualification:

• ND / HND in Mechanical Engineering


• B.E. in Mechanical Engineering

Core Functional Experience:

• Operation of Control Panels: Expertise in operating control panels to manage the entire hot strip mill process, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.


• Monitoring Equipment and Systems: Proficient in monitoring the status of various equipment and systems through the control room, ensuring they operate within optimal parameters.


• Adjusting Settings for Optimal Performance: Skilled in adjusting settings and parameters to maintain optimal performance and product quality, including temperature, pressure, and speed controls.


• Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Experience in troubleshooting and resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure continuous production flow.


• Quality Assurance and Inspection: Proficient in inspecting and verifying the quality of hot rolled steel, ensuring products meet customer specifications and industry standards.


• Safety Protocols and Compliance: Strong commitment to adhering to safety protocols and regulations, conducting regular safety checks, and ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.
