Job Summary



  • The Pre-Commissioning Assistant shall assist in the execution of plans, scheduling and execution of strategies towards pre-commissioning and safe start-up of the completed project. 

  • To supervise different discipline teams during pre-commissioning and commissioning activities


Job Details



  • Implements and executes the Pre-commissioning/ Commissioning and start-up plan for the tasks he /she is assigned to.

  • Executes the follow up of PC&C&SU activities, on a defined area/unit/plant or group of systems.

  • Assists in the Performance of the static and dynamic tests and generate the associated report sheets and ensures they are available for hand over teams.

  • Assures that all PC&C activities under his / her control are duly performed in accordance with the stated procedures, in conformity with the safety rules and as per the instructions of Pre-commissioning Lead

  • Prepares and generates the pre-commissioning procedures on Home office and on site for review and approval.

  • Manages the construction subcontractor's Pre-commissioning and Commissioning team assigned to him/her.

  • May lead the work of some Pre-commissioning and Commissioning operators and vendors during the pre-commissioning and commissioning task as part of a team.

  • Perform tasks assigned by the project commissioning Lead, related to the preparation and execution of the pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup activities, interface with engineering disciplines, construction personnel, vendors and subcontractors.

  • Monitors physical installations to ensure that work is installed in accordance with drawings, project specifications, and applicable codes during construction works

  • Assist in the verification and close out of all system punch lists prior to hand over.

  • Executes part of the detail plan & Procedure for Pre-commissioning Work execution

  • Assists in the preparation for Pre-comm. with construction team Instruction, supervision & witness

  • Assists in water flushing, Steam Blowing, Air Blowing, hydrotest, pigging, gauging, intelligent pigging, drying and purging activities of the pre-commissioning from the receiver end according to applicable codes and standards

  • Carries out system line up Instruction, supervision & witness

  • Assists in mechanical equipment running tests, either in execution or in witnessing.

  • Driving safe practices within the work place and preparation of method statements and risk assessments

  • Co-ordinates and controls the work carried out by the teams and vendor representatives, following applicable procedures, codes and standards.

  • Participates in finding solutions to problems encountered during the performance of the work in the area of responsibility, ensuring the good use and maintenance of equipment and tools available.

  • Drafts and submits for review daily progress reports to the pre-commissioning lead of the pre-commissioning and commissioning works.

  • Directly responsible for preservation, storage, stock count and issuance of pre-commissioning and commissioning spares, equipment etc approved by the pre-commissioning lead.

  • Directly responsible for the follow up on maintenance, preparation for mobilization and readiness status of pre-commissioning and commissioning equipment, tools and consumables

  • Provides detailed report to the pre-commissioning lead on shortfalls, defects and issues surrounding pre-commissioning equipment, consumables and tools planned for works.

  • Liaises with the asset team on repairs to equipment and tools

  • Liaises with the Supply chain team on the expedited procurement and supply of pre-commissioning tools, equipment and consumables

  • Participates in the review of project documents and development of pre-commissioning work method statements and procedures as assigned by the pre-commissioning lead.


Manage all other pre-commissioning and commissioning project duties as assigned by the Pre-commissioning lead


Requirements



  • B.Eng. Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Process) 

  • Professional membership an added advantage. 

  • Minimum of 6 years experience
