Role Description


Overview:



  • The Spare Parts Management Engineer is responsible for overseeing and supervising the inventory of spare parts to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment.

  • This role involves planning, correcting, coordinating, and implementing spare parts management strategies to optimize availability, reduce downtime, and control costs. 


Key Responsibilities:


Inventory Management: 



  • Develop and implement inventory control systems for spare parts. 

  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent overstocking or stockouts.

  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconciliations. 

  • Correcting the existing inventory. 


Procurement and Supplier Management:



  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for the procurement of spare parts. 

  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality of parts. 

  • Evaluate supplier performance and resolve any issues related to part quality or delivery. 


Data Analysis and Reporting: 



  • Analyze consumption patterns and forecast future spare parts requirements. 

  • Generate regular reports on inventory status, usage trends, and cost analysis. 

  • Use data to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. 


Process Improvement:



  • Develop and implement processes to improve the efficiency of spare parts management. 

  • Work with warehouse and finance teams to standardize parts usage and reduce variability. 

  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives in spare parts management. 


System Management:



  • Utilize and maintain our computerized spares management systems (ERP) for tracking spare parts inventory. 

  • Ensure accurate data entry and updating of inventory records in the ERP. 

  • Train and support staff in the use of the CMMS and inventory management procedures. 


Compliance and Documentation:



  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to spare parts management.

  • Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all inventory management activities, especially in the ERP. 

  • Prepare and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for spare parts management. 


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

  •  Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in spare parts management, inventory control, or a related role in an industrial or manufacturing setting. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Proficiency in inventory management software. 

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
