We are looking for a result-driven retail Sales Associate to be responsible for all sales job duties, from generating leads to closing sales.


Sales Associate duties and responsibilities include working closely with customers to determine their needs, answer their questions about the products and recommend the right solutions. He/she should also be able to promptly resolve customer complaints and ensure maximum client satisfaction. To be successful as a Sales Associate, he/she should stay up-to-date with product features and maintain our store’s visual appearance in high standards.


Ultimately, the duties of a Sales Associate are to achieve excellent customer service, while consistently meeting the store’s sales goals.


Responsibilities



  1. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent sales service

  2. Welcome customers to the store and answer their queries

  3. Assess customers’ needs and provide assistance and information on product features

  4. Follow and achieve department’s sales goals on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis

  5. Maintain in-stock and presentable condition assigned areas

  6. Remain knowledgeable on products offered and discuss available options

  7. Process POS (point of sale) purchases

  8. Cross sell products

  9. Handle returns of merchandise

  10. Team up with co-workers to ensure proper customer service

  11. Build productive trust relationships with customers

  12. Comply with inventory control procedures

  13. Suggest ways to improve sales (e.g. planning marketing activities, changing the store’s design)


Requirements and skills


Sales Associate skills



  1. Proven work experience as a Retail Sales Associate, Sales Representative or similar role

  2. Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices

  3. Proficiency in English, Hausa and where possible Kanuri

  4. Basic Math skills

  5. Working knowledge of customer and market dynamics and requirements

  6. Track record of over-achieving sales quota

  7. Hands-on experience with POS transactions

  8. Familiarity with inventory procedures

  9. Solid communication and interpersonal skills

  10. A friendly and energetic personality with customer service focus

  11. Ability to perform under pressure and address complaints in a timely manner

  12. Availability to work flexible shifts

  13. Diploma in Marketing or related field would be a plus
