Job Description
Job Summary
- As an Air Conditioner Technician, you are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of air conditioning systems, including central, split, and window units, within the hotel premises.
- This role ensures that all HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems function efficiently, providing a comfortable environment for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
Installation and Setup:
- Install new air conditioning systems and components, including central AC units, split systems, window units and refrigerators.
- Set up and calibrate HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate with other maintenance staff and contractors for large installations.
Maintenance:
- Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on all air conditioning units.
- Clean and replace filters, coils, and other components to maintain efficiency.
- Monitor system performance and adjust settings as necessary.
Repair:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with air conditioning systems.
- Repair or replace defective parts, including compressors, motors, fans, and electrical components.
- Ensure timely and effective resolution of all HVAC-related problems.
Chiller Systems:
- Install, maintain, and repair chiller systems used for cooling large areas within the hotel.
- Monitor chiller system performance, including temperature and pressure readings.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as cleaning condenser coils, checking refrigerant levels, and ensuring proper lubrication of moving parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair any issues with the chiller systems, including problems with compressors, evaporators, and control systems.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work.
- Document system performance, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with hotel policies and local, state, and federal regulations.
- Handle refrigerants and other hazardous materials safely.
Customer Service:
- Respond promptly to guest and staff reports of HVAC issues.
- Communicate effectively with hotel management and other staff members about ongoing issues and maintenance needs.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Equipment management, or a related field; technical training or certification in maintenance-related fields preferred.
- Minimum of 7-8 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a hospitality environment.
- Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing various types of air conditioning systems.
- Strong understanding of HVAC principles and systems, including chiller systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Minimum of 6-7 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair, preferably in a hotel or commercial setting.
- Experience with chiller systems is highly desirable.
- HVAC certification or equivalent technical training.
