A Home Economics teacher is responsible for instructing and guiding students in the principles and practices of household management, food preparation, nutrition, textiles, and related domestic skills.
They develop and deliver comprehensive lesson plans that cover the core areas of home economics, to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary for independent living.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans that cover a wide range of home economics topics, such as food and nutrition, sewing and textiles, personal finance, and household management.
Facilitate hands-on learning activities, demonstrations, and projects to reinforce the theoretical concepts taught in the classroom.
Assess students' progress and provide regular feedback to help them improve their understanding and practical skills.
Maintain detailed records of student performance, attendance, and disciplinary issues.
Collaborate with other faculty members.
Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, research, and best practices in home economics education.
Contribute to the overall development and enrichment of the school community.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related field.
Teaching/Education certification. e.g. NCE, B.Ed, PGDE
Minimum 2-3 years of experience teaching home economics or a related subject at the secondary level.
Demonstrated success in creating and implementing effective lesson plans and assessments.
