Our client in the retail industry is looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to lead their team. As the Head of Human Resources, you will maintain and enhance the organization's Human Resource (HR) by planning, evaluating and implementing employee relations and HR policies, programs, and practices. Key aspects of the job include: Strategy Development and implementation, strategically managing the organisations HR function. This is an onsite position from Monday to Friday.


KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Communicates the company’s HR strategy to business units and other functional areas to ensure understanding and commitment

  • Directs and accounts for all matters concerning employment legislation and contract issues to ensure that company liabilities are managed in compliance with relevant laws

  • Collaborates with the PRL leadership team and regional retail store teams on recruitment, employee relations issues, corrective action and performance management needs

  • Develops and administers various HR plans and procedures for all company personnel.

  • Provides strong functional leadership to enable effective delivery of HR strategy across the business

  • Maintains the organization’s staffing requirement, by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counselling managers on candidate selection; conducting and analysing exit interviews; recommending changes.

  • Maintains employee benefits programs and informs employees of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommends benefit programs to management; directing the processing of benefit claims

  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements.

  • Conducts disciplinary hearing in accordance with the company disciplinary policy

  • Leads and Directs the Strategic HR initiatives for the company

  • In collaboration with subordinate(s), approves and manages Expatriate Benefits

  • Participates in the preparation and review of employee salary sheet

  • Creates and nurtures relationships with service providers, contractors and governmental authorities, etc.

  • Reviews and develops policies, procedures and practices which identify the company as a progressive organisation, providing clarity, to support how the company manages its people.

  • Develops and provides guidance to Company’s Executive Management in the implementation of effective succession planning system and supporting processes; and ensure consistent supply of high calibre staff to fill vacancies at senior management level and other positions across the business

  • Ensures proper adherence to company policies and strategies

  • Provides advice to all management levels in the organization

  • Coordinates Orientation programmes for management team members as required.

  • Approves the provision and use of Office tools such as Laptops, pool car etc. to employees

  • Decides about the holiday plan, other benefits i.e. extra days off for the employees and ensuring the right administration of it

  • Writes and implements the HR policies, procedures and documents after approval by CEO / ED

  • Partners with PRL Leadership in the formation and rollout of HR initiatives

  • Coordinates the design and implementation of the company’s people development and training strategies, plans to ensure identified needs are addressed with appropriate interventions

  • Prepares the Annual HR Budget

  • Promotes the motivation and development of the management team, and appraise the performance of appropriate managers in accordance with agreed objectives and targets.

  • Organises and approves the administration of employee welfare programs for employees

  • Performs any other duties as required by the ED


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:



  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field

  • Professional Qualification in Human Resources (CIPMN, CIPD, SHRM)

  • Minimum of Seven (7) years of experience working in Human Resources. Proven experience in general HR management by preference in the retail sector

  • Knowledge of the Nigerian Employment Legislations
