- The upholsterer plays a crucial role in our company, ensuring that our products are not only structurally sound but also aesthetically pleasing and comfortable.
- As an upholsterer, you will be responsible for applying padding, springs, fabric, or leather covers to furniture frames to create finished pieces.
Your duties will include:
- Selecting appropriate fabrics or leather for each project and accurately cutting them to size, ensuring minimal waste and maximum efficiency.
- Applying padding materials such as foam or cotton to furniture frames to provide comfort and support.
- Installing springs or other support systems as needed for specific furniture pieces.
- Stretching and attaching fabric or leather covers over furniture frames, ensuring a smooth and wrinkle-free finish. Using techniques such as stapling, sewing, or tacking to secure the upholstery in place.
- Trimming excess fabric or leather, and adding decorative elements such as buttons or piping to enhance the appearance of the finished piece.
- Inspecting the completed upholstery for quality and making any necessary adjustments.
- Working closely with other members of the production team, including designers, carpenters, and finishers, to ensure that each piece meets quality standards and customer specifications.
- Occasionally repairing or reupholstering existing furniture pieces, either in-house or on-site at the customer's location.
- Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized work environment to ensure a safe and efficient workflow.
Requirements
- Candidates should possess Bachelor's Degrees with 2 - 5 years relevant work experience.
