Job Summary:
Oversee internal operating controls, processes and practices, schedule and plan audits, track cash flow and accounts, assess risk, and develop audit direction.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the strategic goals and objectives of the organization and align the internal Audit framework accordingly.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive audit strategy and plan to assess and strengthen controls throughout the organization.
- Performs preliminary planning and establishes direction for audits, provides leadership to assigned auditors by reviewing their works and providing guidance, managing projects to quality outcomes while meeting established time budgets.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand business processes and risks, and provide recommendations for control enhancements.
- Establish and maintain a strong control culture across the organization.
- Drive change management initiatives to improve control practices and awareness.
- Create & deliver reports to senior management & the board of directors on the status of controls, audit findings & recommended actions.
- Work closely with Management to identify potential risks in the company's operations and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Analyze the integrity and reliability of financial information and means used for identifying, measuring, classifying and reporting information. Also, review and record activities and plans defined by management to resolve issues identified by audit findings.
- Respond to ad hoc requests to address control issues on new business processes, policies, and procedures, and provide consultative services to management.
- Review operational processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Manage and mentor a team of internal auditors across multiple locations, providing guidance and training as needed and Collaborating with various departments and external auditors to foster open communication and transparency.
- Identify control weaknesses, fraud risks, and areas of potential waste. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks effectively.
Requirements
- First Degree in Accounting or related discipline with over 10 years of professional experience in internal audit, forensic auditing, external auditing and compliance
- Must be a member of ICAN or other applicable/ relevant professional bodies
- Experience with working in the food industry is an added advantage but not required.
- Proven experience in internal audit, control assessment, or risk management, with a track record of successfully implementing control enhancements and internal process restructuring
- Experience in Multi-Location Business Environments.
- Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) Industry Expertise and core manufacturing background.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset with Change Management Experience.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills, resilience, experience in navigating through a myriad of challenges and strong communication skills between top management and junior employees.
- Strong knowledge of audit methodologies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Change management expertise to drive cultural change around controls.
- Exceptional project management skills to effectively plan and execute audit initiatives.
- Familiarity with auditing software and data analytics tools.
