RESPONSIBILITIES
Protection, CFM and AAP Officer’s responsibilities include the following and are not limited to:
- Conduct protection monitoring activities at household and community levels using a balanced combination of established quantitative and qualitative tools.
- Manage the project's Community Accountability and Response Mechanisms, ensuring the community remains central to the intervention.
- Assist the Protection Coordinator in planning and facilitating stakeholder training, including writing training reports and managing logistics.
- Provide project management support as required by the project team.
- Facilitate Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) among community members on selected topics to better understand the causes and consequences of identified risks.
- Monitor and report protection concerns arising from WFP food assistance, including new population displacements and movements in operational areas.
- Report and escalate any serious protection incidents or immediate concerns identified within target communities to the Protection Coordinator.
- Identify individual cases with protection concerns during household and community assessments for referral to internal services or specialized agencies.
- Verify collected information on protection risks and service availability and access through direct observation of the area.
- Support the Protection Coordinator in reporting qualitative and quantitative data and information.
- Map main service providers in the area of intervention and identify and report gaps in service availability and quality.
- Prepare and submit regular progress reports promptly to the protection Coordinator.
- Represent FACT Foundation at cluster meetings and other external engagements at the field level, ensuring the organization’s visibility.
- Maintain strong working relationships with service providers and community stakeholders in the LGA.
- Plan and implement sensitization, information dissemination, and awareness-raising activities.
- Provide guidance and support to field monitors and field staff involved in monitoring activities.
- Schedule and organize field visits to project sites within the LGA, ensuring comprehensive coverage of project activities.
- Carry out all tasks in line with key protection principles, including do no harm, non-discrimination, confidentiality, accountability, and need-to-know principles.
Education and professional experience:
- University Degree in a related field (Social Sciences, Law is an asset).
- 2 years of relevant professional experience in the protection sector.
- Previous working experience with IDPs, refugees and returnees.
- Strong knowledge of international protection in the humanitarian context.
