Job Summary
- The Workshop Manager (Wood and Metal) is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring the efficient production of high-quality wood and metal products.
- This role involves managing staff, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and meeting production targets.
- The Workshop Manager will also be responsible for coordinating with other departments to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the workshop, ensuring productivity and quality standards are met.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet project deadlines.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of raw materials and supplies, placing orders as necessary.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate workshop staff, including carpenters, metalworkers, and other production personnel.
- Foster a positive and collaborative working environment, promoting teamwork and professional development.
- Ensure all team members are adhering to safety protocols and company policies.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure products meet required specifications and standards.
- Conduct regular inspections of finished products and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure all workshop equipment and machinery are properly maintained and serviced regularly.
- Coordinate repairs and replacements of tools and machinery as needed to minimize downtime.
- Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations within the workshop.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to ensure a safe working environment.
- Monitor and control production costs to stay within budgetary constraints.
- Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures without compromising on quality.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as design, procurement, and logistics, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to provide updates on project progress and address any concerns.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or any related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a workshop management role, preferably in wood and metal production.
- Proven experience in managing teams and production schedules.
- Strong background in quality control and health and safety regulations.
