Responsibilities
Financial Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the microfinance bank.
- Ensure all transactions are recorded in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Generate financial reports for management, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting requirements.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports to relevant authorities on time.
Audit and Internal Controls:
- Assist in the coordination of internal and external audits.
- Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard the bank’s assets and ensure the integrity of financial records.
Accounts Reconciliation:
- Perform regular reconciliation of all bank accounts, loan accounts, and other ledger accounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Tax Management:
- Prepare and file tax returns in compliance with tax regulations.
- Ensure timely payment of all taxes and liaise with tax authorities as needed.
Cost Management:
- Monitor and control operating expenses.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support cost-saving initiatives.
Support Financial Operations:
- Assist in managing the bank’s cash flow and liquidity.
- Support the loan disbursement and recovery processes by providing accurate financial data.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Professional accounting certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, ICAN) is required.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the microfinance banking sector is compulsory.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
