The Quantity Surveyor works closely with all stakeholders to monitor ongoing construction projects and ensures they are completed within the projected cost-effective budget & schedule and as well meet quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documents.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best prices and terms.
- Manage project budgets, including forecasting and monitoring costs.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of all project-related costs and financial transactions.
- Provide expert advice on procurement, risk management, and cost-saving measures.
- Understanding the client requirements and quantities take off as per marking and RCP drawings.
- Identify gaps between BOQ and drawings, specifications, and conditions of the contract and taking it for a logical closure.
- Participate in the pre-tendering activities with client, architect, and project managers and raise relevant pre-bid queries from the given tender.
- Prepare the initial quote and contract for the sales team from the company’s side.
- Coordinate with the design team for analyzing architectural and service drawings.
- Manage the valuation of work done and handle claims and variations.
- Prepare interim and final valuations, variations, and claims of the construction site.
- Conduct feasibility studies and value engineering exercises.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize project outcomes and achieve value for money.
Requirements
- First Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience in quantity surveying, procurement, preferably in the construction industry.
- Advanced knowledge of construction industry practices, regulations, and standards.
- Knowledge of service guidelines, such as the National Building Code (NBC), ANSI/ASHRAE for HVAC, and LEED for green buildings.
- Familiarity with contract administration and legal aspects of construction projects.
- Understands general contracting, design-build, package contracting, value-based projects, and loading margins and lump sum in commercial fit-out, residential, or retail projects.
- Experience working with AutoCAD and validating quantities from the given drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with extraordinary negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in relevant software and tools for quantity surveying.
