The VP Technical will oversee all technical aspects of the company's projects. This role reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer. It demands a high level of technical expertise, strategic vision, and leadership skills to drive the company's technical strategy and ensure the successful execution of projects.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Strategy and Leadership

• Develop and implement the technical strategy in alignment with the company’s overall business objectives.


• Lead and manage the entire technical team, including engineers, procurement specialists, construction professionals, and field technicians.


• Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the technical department.

Project Management

• Oversee all technical aspects of our renewable energy and hybrid power projects, from initial design and engineering through to construction, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance.


• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.


• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Technical and Commercial Expertise

• Provide expert guidance on solar technology, system design, and engineering best practices.


• Stay updated on the latest advancements in solar energy technology and integrate new solutions as appropriate.


• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols.


• A deep understanding of renewable energy solutions and expertise in base load combustible and hydro solutions will be highly valued.


• Commercial acumen required: a thorough understanding of how our solutions affect pricing to the client is essential.

Operations and Maintenance

• Develop and oversee maintenance programs to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of solar installations.


• Implement monitoring and diagnostic tools to track system performance and address issues proactively.

Innovation & Technology

• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in the renewable energy sector.


• Drive initiatives to incorporate cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions into projects.

Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate with key stakeholders, especially the VP Commercial, clients, partners, regulatory bodies, and suppliers.


• The ability to identify and onboard the most suitable EPC contractors for our projects


• Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and technical forums.


• Provide technical support and training to clients and internal teams.

Resource Management

• Manage the technical budget and allocate resources efficiently.


• Recruit, train, and develop technical staff to build a high-performing team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).


• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the solar energy industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.


• Proven track record of successfully managing C&I projects.


• Strong technical knowledge of solar PV systems, energy storage, and grid integration.


• Excellent project management skills with experience using project management software.


• Strong leadership and team management abilities.


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
