Overview


The Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring initiatives aimed at promoting peace and social cohesion within vulnerable communities in Jibia and Katsina LGAs. This role involves developing strategies, facilitating community-based support, and training community leaders to enhance local peace efforts.


Key Responsibilities



  • Design and implement strategies for mental health enhancement and peacebuilding in conflict-affected areas.

  • Establish and strengthen community-based psycho-social support groups to provide safe spaces for counseling and group therapy.

  • Organize training sessions and workshops for community leaders on conflict resolution and peacebuilding techniques.

  • Coordinate dialogue sessions and reconciliation workshops to promote understanding and healing among diverse community members.

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of peacebuilding and social cohesion activities, and report on progress to stakeholders.

  • Work closely with local authorities, community leaders, NGOs, and other relevant stakeholders to promote inclusive and sustainable peace efforts.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels between communities andgovernmental and non-governmental organizations.


Qualifications



  • Master’s degree in Peace Studies, Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.

  • Proven experience in conflict resolution, community mobilization, and peacebuilding initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of the socio-political dynamics and cultural contexts of

  • Northwest Nigeria.

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Fluency in local languages of Katsina states is highly desirable.
