Responsibilities

• Complete and oversee a variety of tests, analysis, andresearch activities involving human samples, specimens, and products


• Test and analyze a variety of samples, specimens, and materials of chemical composition andpresence of specific substances while following standardized analytical procedures


• Manage and operate laboratory equipment, evaluate test results, and prepare reports for physicians


• Receive urine, blood, andother samples for experimentation and analysis


• Prepare standard volumetric solutions or reagents to be combined with specimens


• Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and inventories and orderrequired supplies when needed.


• Maintain records and prepares reports as related to the work and regularly updates related departments (procurement & accounts department)


• Responsible for performing complex tests on patient samples using sophisticated equipment.


• Devises and adapts technical procedures & modifies equipment as needed

Requirements, Skills and Abilities

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.


• Knowledge of the principles of biochemistry and microbiology.


• Knowledge of laboratory tests, control techniques, departmental rules, regulations, and policies related to the work.


• Knowledge of appropriate health, safety, and environmental regulations to provide for safe laboratory practices.


• Knowledge of computer application programs for laboratory activities and data management.


• Ability to carry out laboratory procedures, tests, and analyses required in the work and to interpret results obtained.


• Ability to set up, use, and maintain laboratory equipment.


• Ability to prepare technical reports, records, and papers related to the work
