Description


​As a the team lead for underwriting at Reliance Health, you will play a pivotal role in assessing risk, determining pricing for incoming clients, and driving the success of our B2B and B2C health insurance products in multiple emerging markets. This leadership position requires a strategic mindset, a focus on maintaining ideal medical expense ratios, and implementing plans to enhance the profitability of underperforming accounts. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, sales, customer success, and clinical leadership, to ensure sustained revenue growth, high retention rates, and overall profitability. 



  • Assess risk and determine pricing for B2B and B2C health insurance products. 

  • Implement logical rules-based underwriting processes in alignment with industry best practices. 

  • Drive and maintain ideal medical expense ratios, ensuring profitability goals are met. 

  • Develop and execute strategic plans to improve profitability of underperforming accounts. 

  • Collaborate with data scientists to integrate predictive data science models into underwriting processes. 

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, customer success, and clinical leadership. 

  • Prioritize tasks effectively across multiple conflicting targets, ensuring business objectives are met. 

  • Foster a collaborative and team-oriented environment, promoting effective communication and cooperation. 


Requirements



  • 3-5 years of experience in the health insurance field, with a strong understanding of underwriting processes. 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to drive cross-functional collaboration. 

  • Strong data literacy and data-driven decision-making skills. 

  • Familiarity with working alongside predictive data science models. 

  • Proven track record of maintaining ideal medical expense ratios and improving account profitability. 

  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills. 

  • Self-driven and autonomous, with a bias towards action. 

  • Intellectual curiosity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
