JOB STATEMENT


Our Firm is a multi-service law firm with collective experience spanning decades. We provide services to a wide variety of clientele, ranging from large corporate organizations to private individuals alike. Our law office is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented person for the dual role of an Account Clerk. As an Accounts Officer, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with accounting principles.  Likewise, driving growth and creating new business opportunities for our Company. In this role, you will work closely with the Managing Partner and collaborate with various departments, develop strategic partnerships and expand our market presence in conjunction with our external Consultant.


In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining and analyzing financial records, reconciling balance sheets, conducting bank reconciliations, market research, analyzing trends and identifying new market trends. You will have the opportunity to work closely with internal teams and clients to support timely and accurate financial reporting. Additionally, you will contribute to identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Likewise, you will play a vital role in communications with regulatory agencies like the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Lagos state Inland Revenue Service (LIRS), Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSTIF) and other regulatory agencies. You should possess excellent communication and negotiation skills as well as an entrepreneurial mindset.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.

  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.

  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders.

  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

  • Develop and manage the firm’s annual budget in collaboration with department heads.

  • Monitor and report on budget performance, identifying variances and suggesting corrective actions.

  • Prepare financial forecasts and projections to aid in planning and resource allocation.

  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.

  • Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow to ensure the firm’s financial stability.

  • Maintain and update general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations and laws.

  • Prepare for and coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.

  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard the firm’s assets and financial information.

  • Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.

  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and advise the firm on tax planning strategies.

  • Manage tax audits and resolve any issues that arise.

  • Implement and maintain accounting software and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy.

  • Streamline accounting processes and procedures to enhance productivity and reduce errors.

  • Provide training and support to staff on financial systems and procedures.


Role Requirements



  • National Diploma in accounting or related field.

  • Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.

  • Proficient in accounting software (e.g QuickBooks, Excel)

  • Experience in the Sales industry would be preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of tax regulations and procedures is a plus.


N.B: Applicants with residence in Lagos Mainland and proximity to Ikeja would be preferred.
