Overview of Position



  • Under the overall supervision of the Humanitarian Hubs Project Coordinator & humanitarian hub management staff & with direct supervision of the Red Roof Kitchen Supervisor (Chef), the successful candidate will be responsible for overall operation & management of the kitchen in Banki field humanitarian hub.


Role Objectives



  • Prepare weekly food & beverage plan of Banki hub.  

  • Prepare supplies requests for the week, in coordination with the Field Hub Manager.

  • Verify the quality of supplies delivered in a timely manner, is acceptable & passes the minimum quality standard of the kitchen.

  • Ensure that all staff observe Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) to maintain quality & cleanliness of the food & facilities of the restaurant, kitchen & bar.

  • Exercise overall management of the kitchen & dining area & ensure the services are provided smoothly.

  • Have good personal hygiene & ensure that kitchen area, kitchen equipment, serving area & food storage facilities are maintained with a high hygienic awareness.

  • Responsible for the management of kitchen waste.

  • Continuously develop / innovate a new menu to provide a good variety of food being served at the dining area at the Banki field hubs.  

  • Perform such other duties as may be required.


Project reporting:



  • This role works under the overall supervision of the Humanitarian Hubs Project Coordinator & humanitarian hub management staff & with direct supervision of the Red Roof Kitchen Supervisor (Chef).


Key Competencies



  • High School Education.

  • Minimum of 1 year/s of demonstrable relevant Hotel & Hospitality experience (essential).

  • Previous experience in a similar capacity.

  • Understanding of the importance of health & hygiene.

  • Must be proactive & a great team player & a fast learner.

  • Fluency in English, Hausa & Kanuri.

  • Takes responsibility for action & manages constructive criticisms.

  • Works effectively well with client & stakeholders.

  • Promotes continuous learning for self & others.

  • Listens & communicates clearly, adapting delivery to the audience.

  • Actively seeks new ways of improving programs or services.

Team management:



  • This role has no team management responsibility.


Languages:



  • Fluent in English (essential).

  • Fluent in Kanuri (essential).

  • Fluent in Hausa (essential).


Additional information:



  • Internals of the organization & NMS candidates, as well as external female candidates, will be considered as first tier candidates.

  • This vacancy is also open to second tier candidates who reside in Banki.

  • The appointment is subject to funding confirmation.

  • Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements & security clearances.
