Job Overview
- Our client is seeking a highly skilled Automation/Instrumentation Engineer to join our team in the steel industry, focusing on hot rolling operations.
- The Automation/Instrumentation Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems and instrumentation to optimize hot-rolling processes.
- This position requires expertise in PLC programming, control systems, and instrumentation relevant to industrial manufacturing, specifically in steel production.
Key Responsibilities
Automation System Design and Implementation:
- Design and develop automation solutions for hot rolling processes, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) programming, HMI (Human Machine Interface) design, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system integration.
- Collaborate with process engineers and production teams to understand requirements and implement efficient automation strategies.
Instrumentation and Control System Maintenance:
- Specify, install, calibrate, and maintain instrumentation devices such as sensors, transmitters, flow meters, and actuators used in hot rolling operations.
- Troubleshoot control system issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and optimize performance.
- Conduct continuous analysis of hot rolling processes to identify opportunities for automation improvements and efficiency enhancements.
- Implement advanced control algorithms and strategies to improve product quality, throughput, and energy efficiency.
Qualifications
- HND or Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Instrumentation/Automation, or a related field.
- Proven experience (5-7 years) in automation, instrumentation, and control systems within the steel manufacturing industry, particularly in hot rolling operations.
- Strong proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.), HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.).
- Experience with instrumentation devices and control loops (PID control, loop tuning, etc.).
- Knowledge of safety standards (IEC, ANSI, NFPA) and regulatory requirements applicable to industrial automation.
