Job Summary



  • The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of medical equipment within the Hospital.

  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of biomedical technology and its application in a healthcare setting.

  • They will work closely with medical staff to ensure equipment is safe and operational, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our healthcare services.


Key Responsibilities



  • Perform regular maintenance, testing, and calibration of medical equipment to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications and safety standards.

  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning medical devices promptly to minimize downtime.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to understand their equipment needs and provide technical support and training as necessary.

  • Maintain detailed records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and standards.

  • Participate in the procurement process by evaluating and recommending new medical equipment and technologies.

  • Stay updated on the latest developments in biomedical engineering and incorporate best practices into daily operations.

  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure all medical equipment is in optimal working condition.

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of medical equipment.

  • Provide technical support during the installation and setup of new medical devices.

  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for equipment servicing and warranty claims.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

  • 4-5 years of experience in a similar role within a healthcare environment.

  • Strong knowledge of medical equipment maintenance and repair.

  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations and standards.


Preferred Skills:



  • Certification in biomedical equipment technology.

  • Experience with healthcare IT systems and electronic health records (EHR).

  • Familiarity with Nigerian healthcare regulations and standards.
