Job Description
Duration: 5 months, with the possibility of extension
Purpose of the Position:
The Cook is responsible for preparing meals for expatriate staff, ensuring a variety of nutritious and well-balanced dishes. The role requires attention to dietary needs, cleanliness, and efficiency in the kitchen, contributing to the well-being of the staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation:
- Prepare and cook meals according to the menu plan, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
- Create meal plans that are nutritious, varied, and considerate of dietary restrictions (e.g., allergies, vegetarian preferences).
- Ensure timely preparation and serving of meals.
Menu Planning:
- Develop weekly menus in coordination with the expatriate staff to accommodate their preferences and dietary needs.
- Incorporate seasonal and locally available ingredients to maintain variety and freshness.
Kitchen Management:
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
- Manage kitchen inventory, including monitoring and purchasing ingredients, supplies, and equipment.
- Ensure proper storage of food items to prevent spoilage and waste.
- Health and Safety:
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including the proper handling and storage of food.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and used correctly.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with the logistics and administrative teams to coordinate meal schedules and special events.
- Communicate regularly with expatriate staff to receive feedback and adjust menus as needed.
Budget Management:
- Assist in managing the kitchen budget by sourcing ingredients cost-effectively while maintaining quality.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Culinary training or certification is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience as a cook, preferably in a similar setting. Experience in preparing international cuisine is a plus.
Skills:
- Proficient in cooking and meal preparation.
- Knowledge of nutrition and special dietary requirements.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills in English. Knowledge of local languages is an advantage.

- Fully comply with Tdh Code of Conduct and ensure Child Safeguarding Policy, and PSEA are always upheld.
- Report cases of abuse on children that she/he would be aware of in Tdh’s office or the field locations. Strict confidentiality must be respected.
- Adhere to and enforce current administrative and logistical regulations and procedures.
- Deliver any other tasks as assigned by his/her Supervisor.
