Job Summary:


The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This includes ensuring that the project is completed within its projected budget, overseeing procurement processes, and managing all associated costs and contracts. The Quantity Surveyor will work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure the smooth progression and completion of the project.


Responsibilities:



  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects based on architectural drawings and specifications.

  • Monitor project costs, track changes to the design and construction work, and adjust budget projections accordingly.

  • Conduct cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.

  • Prepare tender documents, contracts, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation.

  • Analyze and negotiate tenders from contractors and subcontractors.

  • Oversee procurement strategies to ensure materials and services are obtained at the best price and quality.

  • Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts.

  • Manage the process of payment applications and certifications.

  • Ensure timely and accurate payments to contractors and suppliers.

  • Identify potential financial or contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.

  • Handle disputes and claims with contractors and suppliers.

  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure projects meet specifications and deadlines.

  • Attend project meetings and provide financial insights and updates.

  • Maintain detailed records of project progress and financial status.

  • Prepare regular reports on project financial performance, cost control measures, and budget status.

  • Provide detailed analysis and advice on cost-effective construction methods.

  • Ensure that all work complies with current building regulations and standards.

  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and quality of work.

  • Promote sustainable construction practices and assess the environmental impact of projects.

  • Recommend cost-effective and sustainable materials and methods.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.

  • Professional certification such as MRICS (Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent is preferred.

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.

  • Strong understanding of construction methods and materials.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, CostX, or other estimating software).

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
