Job Summary



  • As an oncology nurse, you will be responsible for providing compassionate care to patients undergoing treatment for cancer.

  • Working closely with oncologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals, you will administer medications, monitor patient conditions, and educate patients and their families about treatment plans and potential side effects.

  • Your role will also involve offering emotional support, coordinating patient care, and advocating for patient needs within the healthcare team.


Responsibilities



  • Administer chemotherapy treatments and other medications as prescribed by oncologists.

  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions to treatments and medications, and intervene as necessary.

  • Assess patient conditions and collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and adjust individualized care plans.

  • Educate patients and families about cancer treatments, medications, and supportive care measures.

  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families coping with the challenges of cancer diagnosis and treatment.

  • Coordinate with other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care and continuity of treatment.

  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of care provided.

  • Stay updated on advancements in oncology treatments and practices through continuing education and professional development.

  • Participate in clinical research and trials as appropriate, following established protocols and ethical guidelines.

  • Advocate for patient rights and ensure that ethical and legal standards of nursing practice are upheld.


Qualifications



  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

  • A bachelor’s degree in nursing 

  • Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) preferred.

  • Prior experience in oncology or a related field is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and emotionally demanding environment.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
