Job Summary:
- The Layer Farm Supervisor oversees the daily operations of a layer poultry farm, ensuring optimal production, animal welfare, and staff management.
- The supervisor will implement best practices in poultry farming, monitor the health and productivity of the flock, and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Farm Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the layer farm, including feeding, watering, and egg collection.
- Monitor and maintain the health and productivity of the flock.
- Implement and enforce biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks.
Staff Supervision:
- Supervise, train, and coordinate farm workers and other staff.
- Assign tasks and ensure proper execution of duties.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
Animal Welfare:
- Ensure proper care and handling of poultry to maintain high welfare standards.
- Monitor bird health, identify issues, and implement appropriate interventions.
- Work with veterinarians to manage disease prevention and treatment programs.
Production Optimization:
- Monitor and optimize egg production processes to achieve production targets.
- Implement feeding programs and manage nutrition to maximize productivity.
- Analyze production data and identify areas for improvement.
Facility Maintenance:
- Ensure that farm buildings, equipment, and machinery are well-maintained.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance activities as needed.
- Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the farm premises.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of flock health, production, and staff activities.
- Prepare and submit reports on farm operations, including production statistics and financials.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Inventory Management:
- Manage inventory of feed, medications, and other supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed to avoid shortages.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A degree or diploma in Animal Science, Poultry Science, Agriculture, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in poultry farming, with a focus on layer operations. Supervisory experience is a plus.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent knowledge of poultry health, nutrition, and husbandry practices.
- Ability to analyze data and implement improvements.
- Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Proficiency in farm management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Requirements:
