- The Independent Monitor will work with RTI and State NTD team to track output of implementation based on agreed standards. Independent Monitors will supervise cascaded training of LGA NTD teams, Healthcare workers and Volunteer Community Directed Distributors (CDD).
- They will be directly responsible for the supervision of the distribution of medicines by the trained CDDs in Onchocerciasis endemic communities in Cross River State (CRS).
Duration of Assignment:
- The assignment is for a period of 20 days. Duration of Field work might be extended or shortened based on project needs and field performance.
Scope of Work
To ensure effective treatment coverage in all the targeted endemic communities and proper documentation, the Independent Monitors will discharge the following responsibilities:
- Participate in relevant planning meetings at LGA and Community levels.
- Provide supportive supervision for the training of healthcare workers and CDDs to ensure content is delivered using available training materials as intended, and all training targets are met.
- Document number of participants available for training in each center
- Support census update in assigned LGAs.
- Provide supportive supervision for MDA at all levels of implementation and document results.
- Provide daily updates of field activities using android mobile phones.
- Work with CDDs, health workers and LGA data officers to track data issues and make corrections on all completed data tools.
- Track Supply Chain Management processes and commodity/drug usage in assigned LGA.
- Participate in conducting supervisors’ coverage survey during MDA.
- Collate and return all completed attendance and account details sheets in assigned LGA.
- Support all processes of reverse logistics.
- Administer and complete any other tool (checklist, template, etc) as may be required by RTI International.
- Submit detailed Report of monitoring and supervision completed with challenges, success stories, lessons learnt and recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Science, Education, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years field experience in monitoring and supervision of health projects.
- Knowledge of NTDs (Onchocerciasis) and experience on NTD elimination activities
- Ownership of computer and proficiency in the use of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ownership of Android phone and proficiency in the use of ODK for data collection.
- Strong understanding of health program planning, activity coordination and documentation
- Good understanding of Community entry and mobilization strategies
- Strong training, facilitation and report writing skills.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to details.
- Ability to work in remote and potentially challenging field environment.
- Strong communication and inter-personal Skills.
