Field Support Technician (FIBER) will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining fibre optic networks. This role involves working in various field environments, ensuring that the fibre infrastructure operates efficiently and effectively. The technician provides hands-on support and solutions to any issues related to fibre connections, (both Aerial and underground) from installation to repair.
Responsibilities
Installation: Set up and install fibre optic cables, connectors, and related equipment in both residential and commercial settings.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on fibre optic networks to ensure optimal performance.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to fibre optic connections, including signal loss, cable damage, and connectivity problems.
Testing: Use specialized tools and equipment to test the integrity and performance of fibre optic cables and connections.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
Customer Support: Provide technical support and guidance to customers, ensuring their fiber services are functioning correctly.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices when working in the field.
Qualifications
1 - 3 years of experience in the fibre optics field. Strong leadership and communication skills, knowledge of fibre optics installation and maintenance practices.
Skills:
Experience in splicing fiber optics cables.
Experience in the use of OTDR machine to locate faults on fibre optics cable
Experience in fibre optics cable deployment both Arial and underground.
